SPRING WAS JUST ABOUT HERE and the weather was ideal on March 10 to come out and enjoy the PCA UCR monthly social at Porsche Centre North Toronto — our hosts welcomed approximately 100 club members!
A wide variety of Porsches were on display in the showroom including the new Taycan. PCNT was very generous providing many sandwiches, wraps, salads and desserts for our members.
At 7:40 p.m. I formally welcomed everyone to the social and thanked Graham MacNab, managing director of the dealership, and Adriano Bernaudo, marketing manager, and the entire PCNT team for graciously hosting our event.
I highlighted some of our upcoming events and spoke about the next Street Survival School program that UCR co-hosts. Kathleen Wong assisted by handing out information cards for this event. Shift Into Spring Open House Co-Chairs Mark Solomon and Peter Helston then came up and spoke about their important driving-season kick-off club event that was to occur at 427 Auto Collision on Sunday, April 19. UCR Rally Master Sajjad Butt later spoke about his rally that was to take place that morning of the open house and end at 427 Auto Collision for lunch. Unfortunately, since the social, these events have been cancelled due to the COVID-19 coronavirus situation.
After completing our UCR updates I formally invited Graham MacNab to the podium to speak to our club members. This was his first official introduction to PCA UCR as he joined Porsche Centre North Toronto on April 15, 2019, which was after our social last year. He spoke about the close relationship PCNT has with UCR and the shared enthusiasm everyone on the PCNT team has.
For a second year in a row, PCNT won the Porsche Premier dealer award for top customer satisfaction. The Porsche Premier dealer program identifies the top three out of 20 Porsche Centres in Canada. PCNT will once again enter the 2020 Porsche Classic Restoration Competition, this year with a 1986 911 Targa. The winners will be announced at Mont Tremblant later in September.
I then asked our new members to come up and receive their UCR pins. Congratulations to Gerry Belanger, Brian Chi, Namby Vithiananthan, Janet Heidker, Juan Venegas, Gabe Schwarz, Oliver Das Gupta and Vince Borrelli. We also had a new PCA Test Drive member, Jimmy Hyett, attend his first UCR event.
After the new-member photos, Graham MacNab picked raffle tickets and Adriano Bernaudo assisted in handing out the door prizes to 13 lucky winners. Congratulations to all of our winners and thank you again to Porsche Centre North Toronto for the fabulous prizes, which included 2020 Porsche wall calendars, 1:43-scale Porsche diecast models, 1:64 Porsche USB drives and Porsche caps.
Thank you to Kathleen Wong, past-president, for assisting at the registration desk.
Thank you to our members who attended this great evening! </>
